Ongoing programs
M‑NASR offers four seasons of ongoing programs for children, teens and adults with physical, emotional and mental disabilities. As the seasons change, some of these ongoing programs change to suit the season. During the warmer-weather months, we try to offer as many outdoor programs as possible.
Many of our participants enjoy programs like golf, Frisbee, track and field, baseball and other outdoor activities. When the weather turns chilly, M‑NASR offers programs such as cooking, artist studio, martial arts, basketball, volleyball and much, much more! We strive to provide programming for everyone’s interests whether you like athletic activities or more relaxing social times. (Click here for details.)
Summer programs
M‑NASR really steps it up during the summer by offering a variety of programs as well as our ever-popular Summer Day Camp program. We offer six camps which run for eight weeks; parents looking for a special environment for their children ages 3-19 flock to our camps as we address the individual needs they may have.
Our camp participant-to-counselor ratio is never more than 4:1, and often less. Additionally, we offer transportation to and from our camp sites, should a family desire it. We provide a safe, fun environment in which all children can achieve a successful camp experience. (Click here for details.)
Inclusion programs
M‑NASR and our member agencies believe that all individuals should be provided with leisure opportunities that allow for performance at their highest level of ability. Although many people achieve this through participating in a M‑NASR program, others may have greater success in an activity held in their own recreation agency.
We and member agencies adhere to the following basic principles when providing accommodations, to allow for successful inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the activities of member recreation agencies.
- The interests and needs of an individual participant will be addressed.
- The concerns of the family will be taken into account.
- The member-agency staff will be given support by M‑NASR.
- Options and choices will be made available to individuals with disabilities. (Click here for details.)
